We are together tonight to celebrate the National Royal Day of May 10. The whole nation is represented here by the presence of personalities from the Parliament, the Presidency of Romania, the Government, the Armed Forces, the Diplomatic Corps and from civil society.
 
We celebrate today our independence and our sovereignty. We also celebrate our unity. Tonight, we honour our heroes’ courage and our children’s hopes.
 
It is said that a country’s Independence Day is its “birthday”. Romanians are proud when they see that Memory and their national identity are respected.
 
On behalf of King Michael I, I would like to ask you to join me in a toast to Romania!
