HE Nicholas of Romania’s Speech
Greener Launch Event
April 21 2008
Elisabeth Palace

Dear Friends,

I haven’t been to Romania for a while. 6 years actually. But I do plan to get back more often from now on and I look forward to every chance of spending time in the outdoors of this beautiful country.

Indeed, Bucharest is a very polluted and dirty city, you cannot miss that. But what I have noticed – are its beautiful butterflies. We hardly ever see live butterflies in the UK now, certainly not in any urban area, and yet here they are – in the centre of Bucharest. You should be proud you still have your butterflies and you should do everything you can to protect them. These small things that make the country and the parks around the town a pleasure to walk in.

This is what I like about the positive approach of Mai Mult Verde – I think they focus more on what can be done, rather than on what should have been done. Romania still has a great nature to protect and everybody should focus on this wonderful opportunity.

I’m glad I’ve joined the volunteering project developed by Mai Mult Verde and I look forward to actually getting involved in outdoor projects with them.
