Speech of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margareta Dinner at Pelesh Castle in the honour of Her Royal Highness Princess Muna al-Hussein of Jordan
Your Royal Highness,
Dear Muna,
Prince Radu and I are delighted to receive you at Pelesh Castle, and wish you, with some delay, a very happy birthday, with all our affection and admiration.
Three weeks ago, Pelesh Castle hosted a very meaningful celebration for our family and for the modern Romanian State: 150 years of existence. And six days ago, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan celebrated 70 years of independence. We would also like to draw attention to the forthcoming celebration of the Centennial of the Arab Revolt, a key moment for so many nations in the Middle East.
Last year, Romania and Jordan celebrated their 50 years of bilateral relations. Our families, as well as our countries share a profound trust, admiration and friendship.
More that 50 years ago, you embarked with remarkable determination and patience on a significant process of education in the field of medicine and health. Over the years, you have extended the effort, building bridges between your country and the whole world, and have continued to take care of every new generation of nurses and doctors in the Hashemite Kingdom. Recently, the United Nations entrusted you with a prestigious position in promoting health all over the world by appointing you as a Commissioner in the newly established High-Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth.
The last ten years have found us together, in Romania and Jordan, and we thank you for the dignified example of patriotism, devotion and professionalism that you give us, by your work in the benefit of your country.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please raise your glass and join me in a toast to Her Royal Highness Princess Muna al-Hussein
