King Michael I sent a letter of compassion to King Harald V of Norway
His Majesty King Michael of Romania sent yesterday, 23rd July 2011, a letter of compassion and support to His Majesty King Harald V about the terrorist attack in Norway. In the letter, it is said:
It is with deep shock and profound sadness that we have heard the news of the unspeakable horrors which have taken place in your country. The tragedy is beyond imagination!
The only consolation at this moment is that, as you pointed out, your entire Nation is united. Over the centuries, the Norwegians have done so much to defend with pride and dignity their freedoms and independence, and I am sure that they will also stand shoulder-to-shoulder in this tragedy. We were very touched by the pictures of the medical and other emergency services working tirelessly to save lives; they were of every race and colour, a clear rejection of the message of hatred which the murderers wanted to give.
Our thoughts are with you in this moment of trial.
